I’m Still Working On This Myself

I think we all have ways we think things “ought” to be or not be done.  Some times these things are sensible, like never hugging a tall tree in the middle of a thunderstorm, but frequently these things are really nothing more than preference and/or habit, like the “proper” way to fold a towel or to hang a roll of toilet paper.

Either way though, one of the secrets to domestic tranquility is not only to be able to recognize the difference between those two categories, but to remember to come to mutual agreement with the other people in the house on these matters, and not automatically assume they are just going to do it your way because that’s the way it “ought” to be done.

This can be trickier than it might sound.
