I’ve made my decision, by the way.
As much fun as it might be to develop some new vices, I don’t really have the time to spare for that right now, so I’ve concluded I’m better off reducing my stressors.

We’d find a way to make it even as vampires, I just hope I wouldn’t have to subsist on gluten-free people.
– L’s Mother not being quite as random as you might think because this was actually relevant to our morning conversation about a dream I’d had last night
After last week I have come to the conclusion that I either need to reduce the stressors in my life, or to develop a taste for a couple of new vices.
Rather than risk getting preachy about it, let me just say that sometimes the trick is to cycle among your stress-relieving vices so you don’t get too hooked on any one of them.
My dark mood from yesterday continues, but it’s not so bad that I couldn’t feel an unreasonable surge of joy when my son (who has been practicing his card tricks lately) informed me that he had just given his deck of cards a “casino wash.”
I don’t mind getting older, but I do mind watching more and more people that deserved more time and a better life not get either.
At this point in my life I have just enough experience doing various repairs/replacements that my first question is always, “Is this going to be as simple as it should be?”.
This morning was one of those mornings where it was dark enough to make you wonder if the sun had decided to just not bother showing up today, but nevertheless it was time to start to our day, so start our day we did. It was in this gloomy twilight that I noticed L’s Mother was exercising without having turned on the light.
After staring at her a moment, I said, “It’s too dark for me to be sure, but I’m pretty sure that you’re looking socksy right now.”
Because (as I suspected) she was indeed wearing black socks as she worked out, she proclaimed, “I’m dark and socksy today!”
Since the theme of the week around here has predominately been about “perspective,” here’s a note to end on:
It can be a somewhat impersonal fact to note that a book has an original copyright date of 1951, but it adds a little more flavor to note that that it lists all the Presidents of the United States from George Washington to the then current President Eisenhower. (I’m presuming even though it doesn’t say, that this book is a slightly later printing that the original copyright date since Eisenhower didn’t take office until 1953.)
One person’s “I invaded this country annually for eighteen years until they learned to give me the respect (i.e., tribute) I feel is my due,” is another person’s “For eighteen years this idiot told us he had ‘conquered’ us and that we ‘owed’ him something, and for eighteen years we disagreed.”
