I Then Promptly Returned And Said, “But You Were Saying?”

May 17, 2021

“Now this won’t be of any interest to you whatsoever . . .” L’s Mother foolishly used as a lead-in with me early this morning.

So of course I interrupted her with, “You’re right,” and walked out of the room.

A Plea To All Filmmakers, Present And Future

May 14, 2021

For the love of mercy, please stop using the Wilhelm scream. I know it’s become a tradition, but the novelty of it played out years ago, and now all it does is scream “I’m making a movie!” and destroying whatever scene you’re trying to create.

Time To Get Back To It Then

What I said yesterday, I meant from the heart, but there’s still lots of room for improvement.

You Have No Idea

May 12, 2021

This is the time of year that I look back and think, “I’m not the man I was, nor am I the man I could have been, and I am still so happy about that!”

Because Shouldn’t I Be Wiser By Now?

May 11, 2021

I thought about including this in yesterday’s post on perspectives of wisdom, but I felt that it disrupted the flow, so I’m adding it today as a follow-up:

A typical adult’s perspective: Okay, maybe being older does make you wiser.

A typical elder’s perspective: There are obviously exceptions to this.

First thought: There sure are a lot of things I keep putting off around here, not because they’re difficult or even time consuming, but just because they’re annoying.

Second thought: I should set myself a task of every day taking care of one annoying thing around here.

Third thought: Yeah, right, like cutting back to only one a day is the way to move forward on this.

If It Were That Easy, Everyone Would Do It

I feel like after yesterday’s post that I should add that you can change the course of a river . . . but not by shouting at it.

Sometimes I’ve Still Shouted Anyway Though

May 5, 2021

I’m the first to admit that I don’t always treat things as water under the bridge as easily as I would like. Truth be told, I’ve spent an inordinate amount of time contemplating the river from the bridge, but at least I’ve wasted very little time shouting at the water expecting the river to change course.

Maybe That WAS The Meditation . . . Seems Appropriate, At Least

May 4, 2021

Today’s marks the day I had my most “21st century” conversation to date:

Me: (Seeing that L’s Mother is wearing a VR helmet) What are you doing?

L’s Mother: I’m doing a quick VR meditation, but all I’m seeing is “Updating, please wait.”
