I Just Wanted To Get In A Final Hit Before I Fell

“By rights I should resign here,” I told my son after I lost a game of chess to him this morning. “But I’m going to give it a few more moves.”

A few moves later I had him in an easily countered check.

Now I resign,” I announced.

I think that says a lot about me.

Overheard While L. And Lala Were Playing Chess

Because Sometimes It’s Five Minutes Till Bedtime

A couple of months back my son developed an interest in chess, and since then he and I have played many, many games of chess.  Never having been an avid chess player myself, it’s been a learning experience for me as well.

One of the most surprising things I’ve learned is that sometimes it’s trickier to lose a game than it is to win one.
